Hooper Elementary has the unique opportunity to celebrate a former student who will be playing in the Super Bowl this weekend! TJ Edwards, former Hooper Jaguar, Lakes Eagle, and current linebacker #57 for the Philadelphia Eagles, is in Arizona to play the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. Staff and students participated today in wearing Football gear to support our alumni. We even found an old picture of TJ when he was at Hooper We wish him the best of luck on Sunday!!!

Hooper Elementary has embraced the Leader in Me culture wholeheartedly. Our mornings begin with a group of 5th-grade leaders greeting students as they arrive off the buses with signs and warm welcomes. The school's morning announcements are led by grade-level buddies in which students share the weather, a joke, and the pledge of allegiance. All grades participate in the morning announcements throughout the year. Our fifth-grade lighthouse leaders meet weekly on Friday mornings to plan all of the different ways to help Hooper be amazing, which ranges from helping teachers in the classroom, creating an artwork project in a hallway, helping younger students in the cafeteria during lunch, and providing tours of our school to new students. Hooper has organized many family events, including a family dodgeball night, a book fair, a welcome to Hooper meet and greet with the Principal, and building a strong partnership with the local police officers and supporting local businesses. All classrooms incorporate Leader In Me throughout language, lessons, and activities. Students use the 7 Habits in their daily lives and continue to practice their leadership skills daily by being prepared, participating in school announcements, and making good choices. Our school celebrates students going above and beyond with students 'Shout Outs' on Fridays and staff members working with an accountability partner. We are proud to Learn, Lead, and Serve our school and community!

Good afternoon Hooper families, I wanted to let you know that Hooper School had a fire alarm go off this afternoon and we had to evacuate the building. Unfortunately, we had a student pull the alarm, but all of the students evacuated quickly and quietly. Thanks for understanding and have a great rest of you day. Steve Feldman BJ Hooper Principal

In the coming weeks, District #41 will be conducting vision screenings for students in particular grades based on Illinois School Code. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision examination by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo the vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report indicating that an eye examination has been administered within the previous 12 months.
