Dear Lancer Family,
Curiosity Day
This week is a big week for our staff and students! We can’t wait to see everyone on Curiosity Day, Friday, August 26, 2022. Curiosity Day (Hour) is a time for students to pick up their locker combination, try their locker, and walk their schedule. Teachers for each grade level will be available to assist students and say hello. Parking can be had in our activity entrance lot and in our bus parking lot, as well as in adjacent side streets. The schedule is as follows:
1:00 - 2:00 p.m. - 6th grade students
2:00 - 3:00 p.m. - 7th grade students
3:00 - 4:00 p.m. - 8th grade students
We will have multiple entrances open for you to enter the building. Once you are in the building, please take note of the guidelines below:
- Please print out a new schedule to bring, as changes may have been made to balance classes. If you forget your child’s schedule, please see Mrs. Sisi in the cafeteria.
- ALL locker numbers and combinations can be picked up in your child’s lunch advisory classroom. If you can’t make it, students will receive their lockers and combinations on another day.
- If you are bringing your lunch/advisory supplies, please drop those off at your lunch advisor's room.
- Please do not fix any stickers on the outside or inside of the lockers.
- If you have a problem with your locker, please seek out a teacher who can assist you.
- Finally, please return to your car promptly at the end of your time so that the next grade level has enough parking.
- If you ordered First Day School Supply Kits, they will be available in the cafeteria for pickup.
First Day of School
Please remember that the first day of school, August 29th, is a half day of school. School runs from 7:32 until 10:30 a.m. on that day. 6th-grade students will report to the gym on the first day of school, while all other students will report to their lunch advisor. We will have support staff all over the building to assist students with finding their way.
ALICE Drill
Lake Villa 41 will be holding lockdown drills on the first half day of school to make sure all of our students are familiar with emergency procedures on the very first day. The Lake Villa Police Department will assist the administration in evaluating our drill. As you know, we utilize a strategy called ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate). At Palombi, we practice the lockdown portion and hold a table talk session for the other strategies. If you have questions about these drills, please contact us.
Curriculum Night
Curriculum Night is scheduled for September 1st, Thursday, from 6:30 - 8:20 p.m. Please see the attached flyer for more details.
Parent PowerSchool Access
Parents can access their student's information with a Parent PowerSchool Account. If you need to have an account created for you or you need your password reset, please fill out the form on this link.
An email will be sent to you with your new information once accounts have been created or passwords reset.
Fall Sports
Soccer, Softball, and Cross-Country start soon! Fall Sports Tryout Form. A current physical must be on file with the health clerk. Physicals can be emailed to our School Secretary
Phone Reminder
As stated in our previous communication, student cell phones must remain in their lockers and be powered off. In case of an emergency, we have landline phones in each room along with teacher cell phones/walkie-talkies. The Lake Villa PD is aware of this new cell phone procedure and supports it. Students should plan to go to their lockers before first period and after tenth period, and they should have plenty of time to do so. In addition, this year all lockers were placed near advisories, so in the middle of the day, students can easily get to their lockers, allowing them to unload books and lighten the weight of their backpacks.
Sincerely,
Dr. Vic Wight
