We had a second grade mystery reader today reading a book about hockey in honor of our Read Across America theme day!
Our Kindergarten students were in for a fun surprise when a 4th-grade Mystery Reader stopped by to share a story—along with a special puppet friend! The puppet helped bring the story to life, keeping our young learners engaged, laughing, and excited about reading.

A Kindergarten classroom had a special treat today with a Mystery Reader! Students were excited to guess who was visiting before enjoying a wonderful story together. Moments like these help spark a love of reading and remind our students how fun books can be when shared with others.

The students in Ms. Novack’s room got a real treat! They performed their reader’s theater in front of a professional actor! Marie from Chicago Med offered amazing feedback and gave the fourth graders some tips, such as using your voice to show emotions and different ways to move your body to show a setting (like how your body might move if you are sitting on a bus). Thanks to the wonderful fourth-grade performers and Ms. Novack for the invitation!
Super proud of these first graders who read to Ms. Darlene, our Health Coordinator, and Ms. Kim, the office. It can be hard to read out loud, especially to an audience, but this group did it calmly and happily! We are very pleased by the growth in confidence these first graders have shown.

They planned, organized, recruited, and executed a full playground clean-up all on their own! The “Garbage Gang” sprang into action — working together, dividing jobs, and showing what true leadership looks like.
