Dear Lake Villa #41 Staff, Students, Families, and Community Members,
My name is Dr. Ann Scully, I am pleased to be serving as your Director of Student Services. As a community member myself, I feel so privileged to be working in our district and serving the students and families of our wonderful community.
Educationally, I earned a Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago with my Capstone focusing on the impact the Covid pandemic had on enrollment in preschool programs in Illinois. Prior to my doctoral studies, I earned two master's degrees in Educational Leadership (Benedictine University) and Communication Disorders (University of Northern Colorado). My undergraduate studies were completed in Speech Language Pathology at Marquette University. I love continuing my own learning and am grateful for the educational opportunities I have received and strive to give back to others. For the past year in addition to my work in public schools, I have been serving as an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago teaching special education legal issues and multi-tiered systems of support for school administrators.
I have served as an educator and administrator in Lake and Cook Counties since 2001. My career started at the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) as a speech pathologist and administrator serving students with significant disabilities ages three through 22 years of age. My tenure with SEDOL lasted eleven years until I left to serve as the Director of Student Services at Antioch School District 34 for eight years. Most recently, I served as the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services in Palatine District 15 for the last three school years.
My career has been rich with opportunities to support students, families, and staff in a variety of ways including the development of a variety of special education programs in home school districts, the opening of an early learning center, supervision of a diverse therapeutic day school, navigation the Covid pandemic in Illinois’ second largest elementary school district, creation of early childhood evaluation teams, writing/obtaining state and federal grants and the passing of two boundary DSEB referendums in two school districts.
I have been fortunate to serve on many strong teams dedicated to continuous improvement on behalf of the students of our communities; I look forward to continuing to serve at a high calibur on behalf of Lake Villa #41. Our students deserve the very best educational experiences while our staff and families deserve high levels of support as they provide our students with their educational and life experiences. My role is to support all on behalf of our collective students’ needs as we prepare them for life beyond the school walls. I am grateful to be a part of the Lake Villa #41 team!
I look forward to meeting and working with each of you!
